#5: Aiming to succeed

The Word for Today
We live in a goal orientated world, driven by success, we feel a little intimidated sometimes by our lack of it in life. Asking why we cannot afford a house or even rent a decent room where we live. It is as though we look at others in life through barred windows that are our worldview.  Life seems full of trouble and we feel powerless. So we sit and wait for our turn to come, but it’s been too long  a wait for some of us even end up homeless; drinking and drug taking to forget the barriers that hold us back in life.

When letting life’s arrows loose, the direction and purpose of life, we often fall short of the target. As a youth, if we had a true target to aim at all it was is a rare thing. A true target of value is not an easy thing to aim at or pick out from the world’s noisy distractions. Both mental, physical and spiritually life, which God has given us to know. His purpose to us seems far off,  lost to most of us who dream more than we do.

We simply do not know how to pray or even ask God. Our faith is weak or we simply do not believe. But life, when we try on our own to reach our goals will almost always fail to deliver what we are looking for. We do not understand the skill needed. We rely on luck, a well-paid job or a lottery-fueled  win to reach stardom. The world may say well done as others in life envy the image of success. Sat in front of their TV’s sets scratching their lottery tickets; trusting in luck. But deep down we know it is not luck we need, but a plan to change our lives.

Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.  if, then, you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will entrust you with true riches?

(Luke 16:11-12)

Get rich quick then is a growing dream of many as suicide and gambling and homelessness increase year upon year. God is waiting for us to reveal our paths based on His vision to bless us with inner riches. We need to start with learning to find Gods purpose for our life. God already knows, we need to seek Him to know it. The truth is that we all know deep down there are no true short cuts in life, all is foolishness and pride if we think there is. God’s ways are not our ways and only he knows what He has put inside of us to grow. We just need to plant our desires in our hearts for them to grow. Putting down the roots as we go, so God can bless us. Seek and we will find, knock and the door will be opened and God can teach us to nurture what we plant through prayer.

Let us seek to praise Him.
